Philips 20PF5320 LCD TV Fix repair page - 'no picture, but sound'?

The 'no picture' problem with Philips 2oPF5320 LCD TV became apparent one day when I turned on my Gran Turismo dedicated screen after a few months of being disconnected (decorating!).

To my horror, there was no picture but clear sound on my Philips 20PF5320 LCD TV.

I cycled through all the channels and got sound from my TV stations and Playstation. But no picture.

Quickly I searched the net but didn't get much info except 'fuse in power supply broken' or 'sleep mode might be on'.

Then I found the fix!

- TURN THE TV OFF AT THE MAINS. This will reset it to default. Wait 1 minute at least.

- TURN TV ON. Ensure you have sound so you know the video/audio feed is OK.

- PRESS THE TIMER BUTTON ON THE REMOTE

Voila, you should now have picture or at least response from the screen indicating what channel it is on.


This repair / fix should work for most Philips LCD tv screens but works definitely with the Philips 20PF5320.


If you have further problems, e.g.blinking lights on the front, no power at all (e.g.no sound etc.) then I suggest you have a power supply problem.

A further point, this is probably the last Philips product I will buy. Their customer service does not have a phone number and I emailed them only to receive an email saying someone would reply in '4 days'. Not good.
